Auburn Football has finally fired Byran Harsin as the head coach and here are the top three candidates the Tigers could get to replace him.

Finally! That’s probably the response of most of the Auburn football fanbase after the Tigers fired Bryan Harsin on Monday after less than two full seasons as the head coach.

Harsin came to the Tigers from Boise State and it was clear early on it wasn’t a great fit. There was a push this offseason to get him fired but he ended up surviving. However, he couldn’t survive a 3-5 record this season and another double-digit loss on Saturday, this time to Arkansas.

With a number of other jobs open, such as Colorado, Harsin could land on his feet sooner than some might expect. His head-coaching career might not be over.

In terms of Auburn football, the Tigers need a home run and there are three really interesting candidates that they should pursue.

1. Coach Prime

I wrote about this on Saturday (yes it was clear this was coming) that Deion Sanders would be a perfect fit for Auburn football.

Auburn is a program with a winning tradition, a strong recruiting pipeline, and a spot in the best conference in college football, as well as an annual rivalry with Nick Saban.

Sanders turned Jackson State into an FCS powerhouse in no time and it would be intriguing to see what he could do in the SEC at a place like Auburn.

I’ve seen some people suggest Lane Kiffin and I get it, but I don’t see him leaving Ole Miss for Auburn. There are just too many parallels. It doesn’t seem like much of an upgrade, outside of the pay maybe being better and probably a stronger commitment to winning.

It’s possible, but if I was Auburn football, I would go hard after Deion Sanders. Auburn might not be his dream job but it offers lots of opportunities and a program with deep pockets.

You can win a national title at Auburn with the right coach and my guess is that Deion Sanders believes he’s the kind of head coach that could do it.
