5. Clemson Tigers (8-0)

Clemson had the week off so I see them sitting at No. 5 just like the Tigers are currently in the AP Top 25. They’re undefeated and escaped an upset against Syracuse right before a bye so this is the perfect time to regroup.

I don’t see the committee ranking Alabama ahead of the Tigers, but I also wouldn’t be completely shocked if that did happen.

The committee likes to take controversial approaches to rankings early on before getting it right in the final weeks and what better way than to rank the Tigers behind the one-loss Tide, showing that the SEC is just far superior to the ACC.

It would be tough to argue because Alabama’s only loss this season is to an undefeated Tennessee team that’s ranked No. 3 in the AP Poll and it was by a single point.

Clemson will be on the outside looking in, in my opinion.
