3. Ohio State Buckeyes (8-0)

Seeing Ohio State dominate the final quarter of action at Penn State was impressive, but is it enough to show the playoff committee that the Buckeyes are the nation’s best team?

I think it’ll be really close, but ultimately, there’s no reason for the committee to veer away from the defending national champs who are undefeated and have been ranked No. 1 in the AP Top 25 for most of the season. Plus, the Bulldogs handled Florida on Saturday in a rivalry game.

CJ Stroud’s Heisman campaign looked like it was in good shape with the win at Penn State as the reigning finalist for the coveted award finished with over 350 yards and a touchdown and didn’t make any critical mistakes against the No. 13 team in the country in a hostile environment.

I see Ohio State at No. 3 in the initial playoff rankings for 2022 and the Buckeyes look to be on a crash course with Michigan in the Big Ten.
