2. Tennessee Volunteers (8-0)

Yes, I see Tennessee jumping Ohio State in the first playoff rankings just like they did (well, they moved into a tie) this week in the AP Poll.

The Volunteers have just been so dang good this season.

Tennessee is 8-0 after beating a ranked Kentucky team 44-6 in Week 9. The Volunteers beat the No. 19 team in the country by nearly as much as they defeated UT-Martin the week before. That’s just wild.

So far this season, Tennessee won at No. 17 Pitt, against No. 20 Florida, No. 25 LSU, No. 3 Alabama, and now No. 19 Kentucky. That’s five ranked wins in eight games which is an unreal statistic.

Honestly, I wouldn’t be shocked if the committee put Tennessee at No. 1 just for shock value and, well, because the Volunteers probably deserve it.

Hendon Hooker is a legitimate Heisman candidate and Josh Heupel has brought the hype back to Knoxville.
