We have hit the end of October and are now entering the final month of the regular season. We wait all off-season for the season to start and it seems like it plays out in a flash. In the Big Ten there are only four teams that are in true contention for the division titles.

In the East division, it will more than likely come down to the Game once again. Michigan disposed of Penn State pretty easily a couple weeks ago and now Ohio State has done the same. Before we get to that final regular season Saturday, both teams will have a challenge in the penultimate weekend with Michigan hosting Illinois and Ohio State traveling to Maryland. But at the moment it appears both teams will be 11-0 heading into their matchup.

Over in the West division, it appears a team that has yet to get to the Big Ten championship game will be making their first trip this season. Illinois is in the driver’s seat at 7-1. Purdue is behind them and needs to keep pace. The division will likely be decided in two weeks when the teams meet each other in Champagne.

Besides those four teams, every one else is battling for bowl position. Penn State and Maryland are the only other teams bowl eligible at the moment but both Purdue and Minnesota should also get there, each needing only one more victory.

Week 9 results provided only some slight movement in the middle for this week’s power rankings. The good news is all 14 teams have completed their bye weeks so there will be full conference slates in action every weekend from here on out.
