Avert your eyes, Texas A&M football fans. The Aggies fell to Florida by a healthy margin to drop to 3-6 on the season and a bowl berth is looking darn near impossible.

It was reported just before the game that a handful of players would miss the game, including star freshman quarterback Conner Weigman who had a breakout game against Ole Miss last weekend. Haynes King got the start, looked great early, and then struggled late.

Florida scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to officially put this game away and shatter any hopes of an A&M comeback.

What’d we learn from this disappointing loss?

3. Run defense continues to disappoint

The weakest aspect of Texas A&M’s defense this season has been its lack of a run-stopping ability. That continued against a lackluster Florida team on Saturday afternoon at home.

Whatever Florida wanted to get on the ground, it did.

Spying Anthony Richardson just didn’t work either as he was the team’s leading rusher for most of the game and made it look rather easy. Richardson was slippery yet again and had two rushing scores and both Trevor Etienne and Montrell Johnson Jr. played well in the ground game.

It’s hard to believe that this loaded (on paper) defensive front is so bad at stopping the run.
