Washington football: 3 takeaways from massive upset at No. 6 Oregon
2. Michael Penix Jr. belongs in the Heisman conversation
We hear all about guys like CJ Stroud, Bryce Young, and Caleb Williams in terms of the Heisman conversation, but why the heck do we just overlook Michael Penix Jr.?
I’ll admit, I didn’t think he’d have this type of impact right away at Washington, but he has worked hard to get healthy after transferring over from Indiana and he looks like one of the best quarterbacks in the nation. Heck, he might be the Pac-12’s best quarterback and there are a lot of really good ones in the league.
What did he do on Saturday to further prove that he’s worthy of Heisman consideration? Oh, just throw for over 400 yards and a couple of touchdowns on the road in arguably the toughest environment to play in the Pac-12 as a visitor, beating the nation’s No. 6 team.
Penix is that dude and he deserves a ton of national recognition for the type of season he’s having.
Heading into Saturday’s game, he was second in the nation in passing yards, 14th in touchdowns, and 23rd in QBR and he has just six interceptions this year.
