Washington football: 3 takeaways from massive upset at No. 6 Oregon
1. Kalen DeBoer may have been the best hire of the offseason
Did any program strike gold quite like Washington this offseason?
You could argue that USC’s hire of Lincoln Riley or Oregon’s hire of Dan Lanning were slightly better, but Kalen DeBoer was hired after Washington had a horrid season a year ago and he’s led the Huskies to an 8-2 start with a massive win at No. 6 Oregon.
DeBoer took over a team with zero offense and has turned it into one of the most prolific attacks in the nation and his Huskies are ranked No. 25 and likely to move up closer to that 15-20 range after this huge win.
Has any coach done more with a “rebuilding” program than DeBoer? I’d argue maybe Sonny Dykes at TCU, but this has truly been miracle work by DeBoer this year in Seattle.
This win at Oregon was the most impressive of any team on Saturday and it’s one of those program-building wins that can shift the momentum in a big way.
I love this fit at Washington.
