The College Football Playoff rankings this week are about to be interested.

If you were looking for blowout wins by heavy favorites in the rankings, you were probably sorely let down because all of the top teams struggled. It felt like one of those weeks when everyone was looking ahead to that season finale and it nearly led to disaster after disaster.

Luckily for a lot of these teams, they escaped unscathed and stayed in the playoff race.

Let’s start with the No. 1 team. Georgia sleepwalked to a 16-6 win over an average Kentucky team on the road. It just felt like the Bulldogs were overlooking the Wildcats and the win was less than impressive. Ohio State wasn’t any better, trailing Maryland for a good chunk of the game and pulling away in the second half.

Michigan escaped disaster at home against Illinois thanks to the winning field goal in the final seconds and TCU literally hit a walk-off field goal as time expired to beat Baylor.

Tennessee wasn’t able to overcome an offensive flurry against South Carolina and lost Hendon Hooker in the process. The Vols had the worst luck of the weekend.

USC held on against UCLA, Alabama didn’t look great against Austin Peay, and Utah was dropped by an Oregon team that didn’t want to start a losing streak.

What will the College Football Playoff rankings look like this week to reflect this craziness?
