It’s flip season when it comes to college football recruiting and there was a surprise on Monday as Florida State football flipped QB Brock Glenn.

When 2023 quarterback recruit Brock Glenn picked Ohio State over Florida State football back in August, the Seminoles had a little egg on their face.

The Seminoles had a four-star quarterback committed in their class for over a year in Chris Parson, who is ranked as the No. 18 quarterback in 2023 according to the 247 sports composite rankings. He’s now committed to Mississippi State.

The communication sort of dropped off between Florida State football and Parson and that seemed to be due to the recruitment of four-star Brock Glenn.

Glenn’s recruitment was kind of all over the map. Auburn and Florida both looked to be contenders at one point before Ohio State started making a push for 2023 quarterbacks and hosted Glenn for an official visit.

That visit seemed to change his recruitment and after a slew of crystal ball projections had him going to Florida State, Ohio State grabbed the momentum late and won his commitment.

For head coach Mike Norvell, it was a really bad look. The Noles had let a four-star QB get away in part because they focused on another, then missed on him too. With Travis Hunter flipping his commitment on 2022 Early Signing Day, it just had the feel of “here we go again.”

Florida State football gets last laugh with Brock Glenn

Fast forward a few months and Florida State football is on a roll. The Seminoles are sitting at 8-3 and are likely going to be near the top 15 after being ranked 19th last week.

And now, they have the 2023 QB commitment they always wanted — Brock Glenn, who flipped from Ohio State to FSU on Monday.

The win over LSU looks really good now that the Tigers are in the top 10 and over the past few weeks, Norvell’s team has been dominating people.

Now, some good news comes on the recruiting trail with the pledge of Glenn, which moves Florida State to 15th overall in the 2023 team rankings.

It kind of comes as a surprise but things move quickly in recruiting, such as earlier this month when Jaden Rashada flipped his verbal commitment from Miami to Florida.

Glenn told 247 sports about the QB-friendly system of Norvell and it probably didn’t hurt that Jordan Travis has been playing really well of late.

Glenn is ranked 22nd among quarterbacks according to the 247 sports composite rankings and is No. 378 overall. There was only one crystal ball projecting a flip, so you wonder what happened.

For Ohio State, I wouldn’t overreact too much. Devin Brown looks ready to take over next season if C.J. Stroud goes to the NFL as expected and if the Buckeyes really want a 2023 quarterback, there will be chances to flip a commitment or take another talented passer in the transfer portal.

In short, this is probably bigger news for Florida State football than Ohio State, which also has the No. 1 QB commitment in 2024 in Dylan Raiola.
