5 things we learned from Week 13 College Football Playoff rankings
Does the committee actually respect the Pac-12?
The reason USC is going to have a good chance of making the College Football Playoff if they finish at 12-1 with a Pac-12 title is that the committee actually respects the Pac-12.
No one really talks about it much — most of the complaining is reserved for the treatment of the SEC, but if you look closely, you’ll more Pac-12 teams are in the rankings than SEC.
The SEC has four teams in the top 10: Georgia, LSU, Alabama, and Tennessee, plus Ole Miss (five overall). But USC, Oregon, Washington, Utah, UCLA, and Oregon State are all ranked in the top 21.
The Pac-12 has five teams in the top 18 (six overall) and while it might have not an elite team like Georgia, the league is strong and if it winds up with a one-loss conference champion, it should go to the playoff.
