Shane Beamer has proven to be such a good hire for South Carolina and after sitting at 6-4 a couple of weeks ago with two top-10 opponents awaiting the Gamecocks, they finished with two huge wins to finish 8-4. That’s how you finish the season strong and the Gamecocks definitely deserve a spot in the top 25 this week.

I was a little surprised to see Texas in the rankings last week, but sitting at No. 23, the Longhorns had a chance to end the regular season as a ranked team with a win over in-state foe Baylor and they did just that, 38-27. Bijan Robinson had yet another Heisman-caliber performance and the Longhorns ran away with this one.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Co. bounced back from a tough rivalry loss to USC a week ago and beat the Golden Bears of Cal to end the regular season with nine wins, a Chip Kelly first with the Bruins. Zach Charbonnet also added 119 yards and a touchdown and this program is trending in the right direction.

I honestly didn’t think Tulane was going to be able to pull off a road win over Cincinnati, but I should have given the Green Wave more credit. They’ve been great all year long. Tyjae Spears had a great game and carried Tulane to a big road win over the Bearcats and it looks like they’ll be representing the Group of Five in the New Year’s Six.

Down 31-10 near the end of the third quarter, Oregon State needed a miracle to storm back and pick up a win over Oregon and it did just that. The Beavers are on the rise as the Ducks couldn’t hold on to win. I think there is a legit argument to rank Oregon State higher than the Ducks, but that would require a drastic drop for Oregon and I don’t see it.
