As we conclude week 12 of the college football season, we have a pretty clear understanding of who’s left in the College Football Playoff chase, after the latest rankings were revealed. From top ranked Georgia, down to USC at #7, that is where our playoff is coming from.

Here’s week 12’s projections for the New Year’s Six, including the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Cotton Bowl

UCF v Tennessee
Previous: Cincinnati v Tennessee

The wheel of Group of 5 contenders for the Cotton Bowl continues to turn. This time, an injury at quarterback derailed Cincinnati at home in a tough loss to Tulane. To add more salt to the wound, Cincinnati lost their coach to the Big Ten, mere months before they move to the Big 12.

Tulane won the big game over Cincinnati, and will now host UCF in a rematch from a previous loss at home to the Golden Knights earlier in the season. There’s no way they’ll lose at home again right?

Despite their successful season, I still believe that UCF is a far more talented team, and I believe they take care of business yet again in New Orleans.

The season did not end the way Tennessee fans had hoped, but the team regrouped after the South Carolina demolition and Hendon Hooker injury and will be playing in their first NY6 bowl since 2009.

Joe Milton kept the offense humming in a 56-0 beat down of Vanderbilt and should be heavy favorites against the G5 champ. Considering how long it has been for Tennessee and the fact that Heupel has coached at UCF before coming to Knoxville makes this game is extremely intriguing.
