Rose Bowl

Washington v Penn State
Previous: Washington v Michigan

In what may be the most surprising minor upset of the year, Michigan is at the doorstep of the CFP, while Ohio State’s season of redemption has found itself in the exact same spot as last year. It wasn’t just that Ohio State lost, it was how they were absolutely dominated at the line of scrimmage and were not competitive in the second half.

So the loss brings the Buckeyes back to the Rose Bowl right?

Wrong, as it appears the Tournament of Roses is more interested in bringing the Nittany Lions from Penn State. Why would they do this you ask? Sounds like the Buckeye faithful’s migration to Pasadena last year was less enthusiastic than the Rose Bowl had hoped, and appear to be more interested in getting a fresh face from the BIG Ten into the big game.

This would be an absolute win for Penn State team that is currently #8 in the country and was looking at the Cotton Bowl as their last hope for the NY6. This should help recruiting, as well as be a big game that might be able to hold off another way of James Franklin chasers that will be vulturing the program.

Penix and the Huskies have had a wildly successful November. They went into both their rivals’ backyards and came out victorious, thanks to the incredible arm of Penix. They beat Oregon and Washington State, then see Oregon and Utah lose again, while USC is a win away from the College Football Playoff. Assuming USC gets revenge on Utah, Washington should easily be the conference’s highest-ranked team not named USC, and find themselves in Pasadena.

This Rose Bowl would be a rematch of the 2017 Fiesta Bowl, a Penn State win in Saquan Barkley’s final collegiate game.
