College Football Playoff Rankings 2022: Final Top 25 projections
Do I think TCU should be punished heavily for losing in overtime to the No. 10 team in the country? Absolutely not.
TCU was ranked No. 3 before the Big 12 title game and had built a 12-0 record before facing the No. 10 Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday afternoon. It was an opportunity to shed the “overrated” talk and the notion that the Big 12 didn’t deserve a team in the playoff field because the conference wasn’t great this year.
But the Horned Frogs stumbled.
They fought back from a 28-17 fourth-quarter deficit to tie things up at 28-28 behind the legs of Max Duggan. He showed some serious grit while clearly being gassed and exhausted and nearly led TCU to a win in overtime.
But that overtime loss shouldn’t knock the Horned Frogs from the field.
I see TCU dropping one spot and sitting ahead of a two-loss Alabama team and it would have taken a blowout Big 12 title loss by the Horned Frogs to get the Tide into the field.
