Kansas State was the 10th-ranked team in the latest playoff rankings which gave TCU an opportunity to add to that playoff resume with a win, but the Horned Frogs fell just short in overtime.

You absolutely have to give Chris Klieman major credit here as he’s turned the Wildcats into a national contender in just a few years following Bill Snyder’s retirement and no one saw that coming. He’s a program builder and he’s proving that in Manhattan as the Wildcats are headed to a New Year’s Six bowl.

Also, doing this without Week 1 starting quarterback Adrian Martinez has been impressive. Will Howard has held down the position, but he has gotten a lot of help from the run game, especially Deuce Vaughn who might be the best back in the nation who no one talks about.

Kansas State deserves a healthy slide up the rankings this week, but we’ll see just how much the committee values this overtime win over No. 3 TCU.
