3. DJ Uiagalelei, Clemson

Notre Dame has seen both sides of “DJU.” They saw the 2020 performance when he threw for over 400 yards and two touchdowns. The Irish also saw this season’s much less inspiring 191 yards, one touchdown, and one interception performance. Which DJU do they think is the real one? The truth is he’s somewhere in between.

He has the highest ceiling of all the quarterbacks the Irish could pursue. However, Uiagalelei might want to reset his career back home in southern California. If he could be swayed away from California, Notre Dame would be an ideal landing spot for a veteran quarterback with big-game experience.

2. Devin Leary, North Carolina State

The nature of Leary’s season-ending injury is of some concern, and he does have an injury history. Leary missed time in 2019 and 2020 with an injury. Leary is the type of quarterback Marcus Freeman and Tommy Rees would love instantly. His teammates love him, and he is tough. Can you win a title with Leary? That is an interesting question.

1. Brennan Armstrong, Virginia

One quarterback the Irish could win a national title with is Brennan Armstrong. Some detractors might look at the season he had, but that was the scheme. Armstrong flourished in offensive coordinator Robert Anae’s system. Tommy Rees showed he could adapt to what quarterbacks do well when he had to play Drew Pyne.

Armstrong could go to Notre Dame and have a revival like Michael Penix Jr. had in Washington.
