2022 Myrtle Beach Bowl: Odds, prediction and why to watch
Looking ahead to the 2022 Myrtle Beach Bowl here’s a look at the odds, a prediction and why should watch UConn take on Marshall.
It’s hard to believe that nine college football bowl games are already in the books and by the time we get to the 2022 Myrtle Beach Bowl it will be 10.
Don’t worry, there are still about 30 or so after that, so college football fans don’t need to worry about a shortage of games or anything.
Why to watch the 2022 Myrtle Beach Bowl
The next week won’t be quite as busy but there is a steady diet of college football bowl games. The 2022 Myrtle Beach Bowl is an interesting matchup and it’s going to be a battle of very motivated teams.
UConn is 6-6 but made its first bowl game in seven years and was one of the best stories in college football under head coach Jim Mora Jr. Charlie Huff and the Thundering Herd beat Notre Dame this season and won four in a row to reach the 2022 Myrtle Beach Bowl.
The Huskies won five of their last six games including wins over Boston College and 19th-ranked Liberty. Both teams are looking to end bowl losing streaks and neither head coach has won a bowl game at their school, which all adds fuel to the fire.
Bowl games are often about motivation. When one team isn’t motivated like Florida against Oregon State, things can get ugly. I don’t see that being an issue in this one and on top of that, both teams are playing well (9 wins in 10 games combined) so it should be a good matchup.
College football bowl games are supposed to be a reward for a quality season and both of those teams earned their way in.

2022 Myrtle Beach Bowl Prediction
Coaching matters in bowl games and so does motivation as I said. Both of these coaches should have their teams ready to go and in some ways they are similar. The running game has been essential for UConn and the Huskies average 194.9 yards on the ground behind freshman Victor Rosa and quarterback Zion Turner.
Turner is kind of a wildcard. He’s a talented passer and adds something to the running game but has been inconsistent.
An even bigger issue for UConn is that their run defense is ranked 90th in the FBS and allows 4.4 yards per attempt, which doesn’t bode well against Khalan Labon who had over 1,400 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.
Marshall is also stellar on defense and allows fewer than 300 yards per game, which is why I see the Thundering Herd posting a 24-13 win in the 2022 Myrtle Beach Bowl.
