Dylan Raiola announced his decommitment from Ohio State on Saturday and here are four early contenders to consider for the No. 1 overall prospect and QB in 2024.

Ohio State football fans thought they were getting good news with the flip of four-star quarterback Lincoln Kienholz this week and it was still a good move (he’s ranked 172 overall).

He’s a solid quarterback and he will sign as part of the Buckeyes’ 2023 recruiting class. Yet, it wasn’t without consequences because a few days later, Dylan Raiola, the prize piece of the 2024 class, and No. 1 overall prospect/quarterback decommitted from Ohio State.

Raiola is 6-foot-3, 225 pounds, and is out of Chandler, Arizona. He’s the son of Nebraska hall of famer Dominic Raiola who won the Rimington at Nebraska. His uncle is the Huskers’ offensive line coach, but still, Ryan Day was able to land his commitment.

There were rumors that Raiola was told the Buckeyes wouldn’t take a 2023 quarterback. Yet, the Buckeyes have been in pursuit of one for months, so who knows, but at some point, there was a breakdown of some sort and the No. 1 player in 2024 is back on the board.

Here are four contenders to watch for the commitment of Dylan Raiola (not in a particular order).

Georgia

The Bulldogs are a team being rumored as a possibility but Ryan Puglisi has already committed and is a top-200 commitment at the position in 2024.

However, the Bulldogs haven’t landed a quarterback in the 2023 recruiting class and it doesn’t appear as though they will sign one, which could open the door to signing two in 2024.

It’s a hard thing to sell to recruits but Alabama is going to sign two quarterbacks in 2023 and you’d have to think the Bulldogs would take both if they could land Dylan Raiola.

Georgia did offer Raiola and he took three visits to Georgia. The last one was last March but if Georgia makes a push, the Bulldogs would have to be considered a top contender.
