New Nebraska football coach Matt Rhule is off to a hot start with his return to college football welcoming a new recruiting class to Lincoln.

The Cornhuskers moved up to having the fifth-best 2023 recruiting class in the Big Ten, per 247Sports. They bring in 21 players, three four-star recruits, and 18 three-star recruits. That class only trails Michigan State (fourth-best class in the Big Ten) by a few recruiting points.

The class is headlined by Malachi Coleman, a four-star athlete who is rated the number one player in the state of Nebraska per 247Sports.

The 2023 class isn’t going to make national headlines just yet, but when Matt Rhule was hired, Nebraska had a class ranking somewhere in the 60s, but now the class ranked 31 in the country.

Rhule is really excited about the additions he is making to the roster at Nebraska. On early national signing day, he met with the media, and here is what he had to say.

"It always goes back to people. Always relationships. Not a fake relationship… It’s about spending time with people. When I came back to college football after being in the National Football League, just getting to know the guys in the NFL, what I realized very, very quickly was this is about family. It’s not about players and coaches; it’s just about people. We’ve done it right, and what we’ve found is a lot of guys are interested in this place. You always start at home, and we let a couple get out of state this year. I didn’t want that to happen. I want every Nebraska young man growing up to know they can achieve their dreams here."

Nebraska football is in good hands under Matt Rhule. He won at Temple and was able to turn around Baylor after the scandal situation. Rhule is in a spot that has a ton of tradition, a blue blood of college football.

Biggest winners and losers from early signing day. dark. Next

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Cornhuskers started being more competitive on the recruiting trail under Rhule, competing with teams like USC, UCLA, Michigan, and Ohio State. Maybe even Colorado with their new head coach Deion Sanders, who tried to flip Malachi Coleman.
