College football recruiting never stops and on Christmas Eve, Colorado and Wisconsin both landed commitments.

We are now in a dead period for college football recruiting but that doesn’t stop the commitments from coming and on Saturday, there were a couple of key commitments for Wisconsin football and also Deion Sanders and Colorado football.

Sanders has been active since being hired as Colorado football coach. He’s made some splashy moves, especially in the transfer portal but on Saturday, the Buffaloes added a four-star wide receiver in Omarion Miller to the 2023 recruiting class.

Sanders had tried to land the top-ranked player in the state of Nebraska in Malachi Coleman, but Coleman sided with the Cornhuskers on Signing Day.

However, he was able to get another former Nebraska commitment. Miller was committed to the Huskers at one point, after also being committed to LSU.

Both the Tigers and Huskers were still in contact with Miller but Coach Prime was able to win out and land his second-highest-rated recruit in the 2023 class.

Miller is ranked 245th overall in the 2023 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings and is also ranked 32nd among wide receivers.

Wisconsin football lands its 2024 quarterback

The Badgers have been busy recruiting quarterbacks since Luke Fickell took over. Graham Mertz transferred to Florida and Nick Evers, the former four-star Oklahoma signee, entered the portal and announced for Wisconsin.

Evers ranked No. 172 overall in the 2021 class and as the No. 9 quarterback. He didn’t get a chance to play this season for the Sooners and will have four years of eligibility.

Still, it’s always good to add talent to the quarterback pipeline and Mabrey Mettauer is another four-star recruit added at the position after committing to Wisconsin football on Christmas Eve.

This one was foreshadowed earlier this week with a slew of crystal ball projections but it’s still a big get for the Badgers. Mettauer is a 6-foot-5, 215-pounder out of The Woodlands, Texas, and will give Wisconsin another QB that fits their new pass-happy system under Phil Longo.

Surely, Wisconsin is still going to be true to some of its Big Ten roots with the running game, but the passing game is entering a modern era, and recruiting four-star QBs like Mettauer (No. 285 overall in 2024) is probably the most important part of that transition.
