Nebraska football put together a solid recruiting class under new head coach Matt Rhule and here’s a look at three recruits who’ll make an instant impact.

Matt Rhule has a great track record as a college football head coach and if his first recruiting class is a sign of things to come, Nebraska football fans should be excited.

Rhule took over a class that ranked outside the top 60 according to the 247 sports composite team rankings for the 2023 recruiting class.

The first class was always going to be an uphill battle but Nebraska football has signed 21 recruits so far. Three of them were four-star prospects and two of those were landed by Rhule, which includes the No. 1 player in the state of Nebraska for 2023 in Malachi Coleman.

Nebraska football signed eight players from the state which was the most since 1998 and here are three that will make instant impacts next season for the Cornhuskers.

Malachi Coleman

Playing right away as a freshman is about two things — talent and opportunity. Sometimes a player will have one thing but not the other.

Coleman, who is ranked in the top 100 overall according to the 247 sports composite rankings, is 6-foot-5, 200 pounds, and runs the 100-meter dash is sub 10.5. He’s dynamic and could be an EDGE or defensive back as well as a wide receiver.

With Trey Palmer leaving for the NFL draft, Nebraska football is going to need a new deep threat to emerge and Coleman is a good candidate. He can run and he can go get the ball.

There isn’t anyone on the roster quite like Coleman and that’s why I would have to think he’ll have a role as at least a big-play threat on the offense next season for Nebraska.
