The New Year’s Six kicks off on Friday night and college football fans have been waiting patiently for this moment. The best time of the year for the sport is finally here.

The College Football Playoff will take center stage as Michigan will face TCU and then Georgia will battle Ohio State. The field is a little different than it’s been in years past with TCU making it for the first time ever and becoming the first program from the state of Texas to make the coveted field and Michigan is in it for the second time in school history.

Georgia won it all last year and Ohio State is back for the first time since 2020.

Clearly, there are a lot of storylines in this year’s playoff field.

As for the rest of the New Year’s Six, the first game kicks off on Friday night between Clemson and Tennessee in the very properly named Orange Bowl. It just makes sense that the two orange teams play in the Orange Bowl.

Alabama and Kansas State will play on Saturday afternoon in the Sugar Bowl. Yes, the Tide missed out on a playoff berth which just doesn’t even seem right. Right after that, we’ll have the two playoff games, and then the rest of the New Year’s Six resumes on Jan. 2 with the Cotton Bowl between USC and Tulane and the Rose Bowl with Utah facing Penn State.

There are a lot of really good coaches in the New Year’s Six, and here’s how they rank against one another.
