Again, this ranking seems so low, but when there are 12 coaches who are literally among the best of the best, it’s more than fair. This ranking would put Josh Heupel close to the top 10 in the entire country which would be tough to argue right now.

I’ll admit, I was a little skeptical when he was hired at Tennessee after a 6-4 season with UCF and after the Knights regressed each year, but he’s been fantastic.

After winning seven games in his first year, Heupel led Tennessee to a 10-2 season and Orange Bowl berth in year two and if Hendon Hooker never got hurt, he may be playing for a national title.

I’m a huge fan of Chris Klieman and I wouldn’t be shocked if he garnered more interest from some bigger programs in the coming years, but Kansas State will need to pony up to keep him.

The 55-year-old head coach led North Dakota State to four national titles and a 69-6 record in five years before getting hired in at Kansas State. His Wildcats have improved every year and now they’re the Big 12 champions after a 10-3 season with a Sugar Bowl berth. He can prove himself against the best coach in college football history: Nick Saban.

Klieman may be at No. 9 on this list, but I could see him rising big-time in the coming years.
