College football: Ranking all head coaches in 2022 New Year’s Six bowls
Can you believe Michigan fans were ready to run Jim Harbaugh out of town after the 2020 season? He hadn’t beaten Ohio State, was coming off a massive upset loss to Michigan State and first-year coach Mel Tucker, and it felt like the Wolverines were miles away from being a legit contender on a national level.
And then 2021 happened. Harbaugh got his mojo back and won his first Big Ten title and, yes, he finally beat Ohio State.
The veteran head coach followed that up with another win over the Buckeyes and a second straight Big Ten crown and second consecutive playoff berth. Talk about a career resurgence.
Love him or hate him, Dabo Swinney is still one of the best coaches in the nation.
No, the Clemson Tigers haven’t lived up to expectations over the past couple of seasons, making the Cheez-It Bowl last year and the Orange Bowl this season, but he’s still coaching at a high level and it’s only a matter of time before he gets them back to the big stage.
Swinney will have a chance to prove that he hasn’t lost it with a win over Tennessee in that Orange Bowl and it would shut a lot of doubters up.
The polarizing Clemson head coach is still one of the best in the sport.
