TCU football: 3 reasons the Horned Frogs will upset Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl
2. TCU’s wide receivers will dominate Michigan’s secondary
Michigan has a good secondary. Cornerback Will Johnson is a Freshman All-American. Cornerback DJ Turner looks to be picked in the first two days of the upcoming NFL draft. Safety Rod Moore is one of the better safeties in the Big Ten. They contained Ohio State’s receivers, who as a group are the best in the country.
They have not, however, faced a group as physically imposing as TCU’s. Will Johnson will likely draw Quentin Johnston. That’s a freshman going up against a 6-foot-4 potential top-10 pick. Guarding 6-foot-5 Savion Williams will either be Turner, who’s 5-foot-8, or senior cornerback Gemon Green, who’s been a liability at times for the Wolverines.
These are tough matchups.
Even with a tested secondary, the physical attributes of the already talented Horned Frogs’ receivers could be too much to handle. Max Duggan should have his guys getting open time and time again in the Fiesta Bowl.
