Heading into Thursday night’s game looking for win No. 11, Washington football knew it would have its hands full with a tough Texas team.

Although Bijan Robinson wasn’t playing, Quinn Ewers would be taking the field along with Xavier Worthy and an electric offense. So when Washington’s defense stepped up and really shut the door on that offense en route to a 27-20 win, pretty much everyone was shocked.

Washington’s defense stole the show in a game that was expected to be a shootout.

What’d we learn from this one?

3. Washington made Texas one-dimensional

OK, so maybe the absence of the best running back in college football contributed to this a bit, but you have to give some credit to Washington’s defense for completely shutting down the run.

The Huskies held Texas to just 51 rushing yards on 18 carries which is way below the Longhorns’ season average and made Quinn Ewers try to beat them with his arm.

He couldn’t do it all on his own.

Washington’s defense played really well against one of the most explosive offenses in the nation and it deserves some props.
