TCU football is a cinderella story of sorts for college football and here are three reasons why it will end with the Horned Frogs as national champions.

For the first time in years, we had two memorable College Football Playoff semifinals. TCU football and Georgia advanced and the Horned Frogs are huge underdogs.

According to FanDuel, TCU football is a 12.5-point underdog against the defending national champions. The Bulldogs are 14-0 but had to dig their way out of a 14-point hole against Ohio State, while TCU controlled their game against Michigan from start to finish, not trailing once.

Much of the college football world is likely to be backing TCU. People don’t tend to want repeat champions and Georgia is looking like the second coming of the Nick Saban dynasty at Alabama with Kirby Smart in charge.

Can TCU football stop the Bulldogs’ coronation? Here are three reasons why the Horned Frogs will do just that.

The incredible Max Duggan

TCU football beat Michigan for a lot of reasons but Max Duggan was right there as No. 1. The numbers weren’t spectacular as he tossed two interceptions (on drops/deflections) but threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns, as well as rushing for 57 and two scores.

While Michigan was able to grind the ball in the end zone, TCU gave the ball to Duggan and he willed his way in for six. At other times, he avoided pressure to throw touchdown passes and one of those plays was a 70-yarder in the second half with Michigan down just three.

Even if TCU falls behind early, Duggan has brought them back time and time again. He rallied them in the Big 12 title game and if TCU had allowed him to run the ball in overtime, the Horned Frogs probably win.

Duggan was the Heisman runner-up for a reason. Georgia’s Stetson Bennett is spectacular too but Duggan is one of the reasons TCU has a very real shot of claiming the national title on Monday night.
