3. Georgia won’t lose in the trenches

We talked about it earlier in this post but Michigan lost to TCU in large part because it wasn’t able to win in the trenches. That was especially true near the goal line.

But all night, TCU was able to stop the ground game of Michigan and on the other side of the spectrum, TCU was able to be dominant on the ground.

That’s not going to happen against Georgia. The Bulldogs allow just 80 rushing yards per game and surrender just three yards per attempt. Georgia football also isn’t going to be surprised by a running quarterback.

For Michigan, it was basically the first time all season it had seen a dual-threat quarterback and the Wolverines struggled. I don’t see that happening with Georgia, which did a stellar job defending Hendon Hooker.

The pass defense has given up some things and I wouldn’t be surprised if Quentin Johnston was able to find some success. The Horned Frogs will make some explosive plays, but Georgia will win the battle in the trenches as it always does and it will deliver a second national title.
