5 Bold predictions for College Football National Championship
5. Stetson Bennett’s shining moment
The former walk-on has been spectacular for Georgia this season and there’s a reason he was a Heisman Trophy finalist. Bennett doesn’t run the ball a ton but he’s got eight rushing touchdowns and that’s an X-factor for the Bulldogs in the red zone.
In the Peach Bowl, Bennett was incredible and threw for 398 yards, as well as leading his team to a 14-point come-from-behind win. He was masterful in the fourth quarter and I believe that Bennett will have his finest hour in the college football national championship game.
TCU picked off J.J. McCarthy twice and the Horned Frogs are really good at taking the ball away. But passing the ball wasn’t Michigan’s No. 1 option all season. Georgia loves to throw the ball and is also happy playing ground-and-pound.
Georgia will find more success running the ball and it will unlock a huge game for Bennett, who will throw for close to 300 yards in a game where the Dawgs score more than 40.
As far as my final prediction?
I think this will be a great college football game. TCU is out-manned, just about everyone is against Georgia but Max Duggan will keep them in it. The defense will be the difference and Georgia will play better in a 48-34 win that’s closer than the score makes it seem.
