Georgia football is building a scary dynasty and it’s just getting started
Not often do teams win back-to-back national titles in college football. Georgia football is built just slightly different, however.
The Bulldogs beat Alabama for a national title last season and all they did was turn around to reel off 14 straight games to start the 2022 season and then beat TCU in the national championship, 65-7. Sure, most of us probably expected that Georgia was going to handle TCU, but we didn’t think that the Bulldogs would beat a 13-1 Big 12 runner-up by 58 points to win it all.
But Georgia did that.
And they’ve been doing all this damage with a former walk-on at quarterback. Stetson Bennett has proven to be more than just a “former walk-on” as he was a Heisman finalist this season, but the Bulldogs have Carson Beck, a former five-star, and a former top-150 recruit on the depth chart at quarterback for next season. The quarterback position won’t be an issue.
If the quarterback won’t be an issue, what about the rest of the offense? Nope, the Bulldogs have a loaded roster in the backfield and at receiver and they’re bringing in two top wideout transfers. Oh, and Brock Bowers is coming back at tight end.
What about the defense? Oh, it’s just getting reloaded with one of the best recruiting classes in the country which followed up one of the best from 2022.
Kirby Smart is building a dynasty.
This Georgia football dynasty is just getting started
If you thought two straight national titles is impressive, you’ll be more impressed when you see Smart win a few more over the next decade, at least.
Georgia will be the favorite to win it all again next season and given the very manageable schedule for 2023, there’s a good chance the Bulldogs run the table again. That would mean Georgia is back in the SEC title game with a near-lock to make the playoff again.
If the quarterback position remains a strength like I think it will and the offense and defense reload like we know they will, the Bulldogs will be in a spot to win three straight titles next year.
And this is just the beginning.
Smart is going to be winning titles for a very long time and this feels like the prime Nick Saban days when no one could beat him. The Bulldogs aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Buckle up because Georgia is about to run college football for a long time.
