Former five-star quarterback Walker Howard has entered the college football transfer portal and here are three potential fits for the 2022 recruit.

College football fans will always remember the name of Walker Howard — not so much because of the quarterback, at least not yet, but because of the dance Brian Kelly did to get him.

People ripped Kelly hard for the dancing, but in the end, Walker Howard wound up committing to LSU as a highly touted four-star QB prospect in the 2022 college football recruiting class. Howard ranked 40th overall according to the 247 sports composite rankings in 2022.

Howard is out of Louisiana and his dad was a former LSU football player. Jayden Daniels was added via the transfer portal prior to the 2022 season and Garrett Nussmeier was the guy who came on in relief of Daniels in the SEC championship game.

Nussmeier was probably the player most fans expected to enter the transfer portal. Instead, it was Walker Howard, who was supposed to be the quarterback of the future as one of the highest-rated QB prospects out of the state ever.

Instead, he’ll be taking his talents elsewhere, and here are three potential landing spots for Walker Howard in the 2023 college football transfer portal.

3. Ole Miss

Jaxson Dart played pretty well for Ole Miss last season, completing 62 percent of his passes for 20 touchdowns compared to 11 interceptions. He threw for 2,974 yards last season as well and showed off some running skills too.

However, the Rebels have been looking at transfer portal quarterbacks. Spencer Sanders is a name that continues to pop up and you wonder if Lane Kiffin and company would change course and turn their attention to Howard.

Not only could Walker Howard push Dart for playing time next season, he would also give Ole Miss a long-term option at the quarterback position. Kiffin’s work with QBs is always a good selling point and it wouldn’t be surprising if Howard wanted to stay in the SEC.

We were calling Kiffin king of the transfer portal in 2022, so maybe he’ll steal away the QB of an SEC West rival in 2023 and according to 247 sports, he was expected to visit the Rebels Friday.
