2. Ohio State

Ohio State nearly defeated Georgia in the Peach Bowl and until their dying day, many Buckeye fans will remember the 2022 team as won that should have won it all.

Ohio State was ahead by 14 points in the fourth quarter. It also had an early lead against Michigan in Columbus before completely falling apart in the second half.

C.J.  Stroud is expected to leave for the NFL draft, however, he hasn’t declared yet. If he returned, Ohio State would be the clear No. 1 contender to Georgia. Marvin Harrison Jr. is expected back and if he wasn’t knocked out of the College Football Playoff semifinal, Ohio State probably wins.

Emeka Egbuka is also returning along with former five-star running back TreVeyon Henderson. The offense has even more five-star talent arriving and whether it’s Devin Brown or Kyle McCord at quarterback, I’m not that worried.

Stroud is special but he was viewed as an unknown too before he started. Ohio State doesn’t have a talent issue. It just needs a dose of championship mettle and toughness.

But even without Stroud, Ohio State can challenge for the ultimate prize and maybe stop a Georgia 3-peat if it gets another chance to do so.
