Five-star quarterback Jaden Rashada is back on the market after Florida released him from his letter of intent and here’s a look at some of the contenders.

The recruitment of Jaden Rashada has been one of the most interesting to follow in recent years as it has been literally all over the map.

Rashada is from California and Oregon looked like the early leader before Miami was able to get involved later in the process and win his commitment.

However, the Hurricanes really struggled this season and for that and maybe other reasons as well, Jaden Rashada flipped his commitment to the Gators. There were rumors of a big NIL deal when Rashada went to Miami and the same with Florida, which was very much in the mix when Rashada committed to the Hurricanes.

Now, after his $13 million NIL deal fell apart at Florida, Rashada has been released from his letter of intent and is back on the quarterback. Rashada is ranked 54th overall in the 247 sports composite rankings, but 247 sports own rankings have him as a five-star QB (29th overall).

Breaking down contenders for Jaden Rashada

Either way, he’s one of the top quarterback recruits in the 2023 class and according to Steve Wiltfong of 247 sports, Arizona State, Washington, Cal, and TCU are teams to watch.

Wiltfong reported TCU was in contact with Rashada on Friday and that’s a really interesting development. The Horned Frogs are fresh off a national title game appearance and Sonny Dykes’ teams have been QB-friendly over the years.

TCU did lose its offensive coordinator to Clemson, but the Horned Frogs seem like a viable contender. Cal originally made Jaden Rashada’s top seven and with his ties to the state, the Golden Bears shouldn’t be discounted at all.

Arizona State seems like the real team to watch though. Kenny Dillingham is a lights-out recruiter as we saw with Dante Moore and he’s got ties to Rashada because of recruiting him at Oregon.

Arizona State landed Drew Pyne from Notre Dame in the transfer portal, but the depth chart is wide open and Jaden Rashada could be a multi-year starter there maybe even next season.

The talented QB is expected to visit Arizona State this weekend and the Sun Devils appear to be the early favorite in the Jaden Rashada sweepstakes, although I wouldn’t count out Washington either, especially after what Michael Penix Jr. did last season.
