Baylor football: 3 second-year players who’ll become stars in 2023
I’m going to admit, as a Michigan State fan, I really wanted Armani Winfield to end up in East Lansing. It pained me when he eventually chose Dave Aranda and Baylor because I knew he’d one day become a star for the Bears instead of my Spartans. But that’s OK. I’ve moved on, I guess.
Winfield had a very quiet first season with Baylor as the Bears only utilized him in three games and he was able to retain his redshirt. He finished with a single reception for 10 yards.
He should see much more playing time in 2023 with no true No. 1 receiver standing out for Baylor last season.
Winfield has all the physical tools to become a true WR1 threat next season but he’ll have to claw his way to the top of the depth chart with most of the top receivers coming back. Though none of them truly stood out, it’s not going to be easy for Winfield to earn a starting job, but he’s more than capable and talented.
This dude has serious star potential and I think he could elevate Baylor’s offense, if given the opportunity.
