Making the case for TCU, Arizona State with Jaden Rashada
Jaden Rashada was one of the top-ranked quarterbacks in the 2023 class and is available again, but two teams are emerging as favorites.
The recruitment of Jaden Rashada has taken many twists and turns. First, he was committed to Miami and then flipped to Florida with rumors of a massive NIL deal.
However, the reported $13 million NIL deal didn’t work out at Florida and subsequently, Jaden Rashada asked the Gators out of his letter of intent and which was recently granted, putting Rashada back on the market for the 2023 class just ahead of National Signing Day.
It didn’t take long for teams to express interest and reach out to Rashada, who has actually visited Arizona State already and is expected to take a visit to TCU this weekend.
Washington, California, Nebraska, Utah, and South Carolina have also had contact with Rashada according to Chad Simmons of On3.com.
There have been some new developments that Simmons reported and it’s becoming clear that Jaden Rashada is going to wind up at either Arizona State or TCU.
Why Arizona State and TCU are good fits for Jaden Rashada
The Horned Frogs have a lot to sell on the recruiting trail right now as they are fresh off a berth in the College Football Playoff National Championship. They also have a potential starting job available.
Chandler Morris is coming back next season and he was the starter to open 2022 before getting injured. Rashada would have to beat him out but that’s a pretty attractive quarterback room.
Arizona State also has that to sell. It’s significant in my view that Jaden Rashada took his first visit to Tempe. He also has a relationship with new Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham, who recruited Rashada when he was at Oregon.
Arizona State does have Drew Pyne who transferred from Notre Dame, but again, Rashada might view that as a chance to get on the field fairly early.
The Ducks were trending as the favorite at one time over the summer before Miami landed a verbal pledge. The Gators eventually lost his pledge too.
Rashada is from Pittsburgh, California and the 6-foot-4 quarterback is ranked seventh among quarterbacks in the 2023 class. He’s ranked 80th overall in the 247 sports composite rankings but is a five-star in the 247 sports own rankings.
Either way, he’s one of the most talented signal callers in the class. It’s hard to separate out the Sun Devils and Horned Frogs right now, but I’m guessing we’ll start to get an idea after this weekend’s visit to TCU which way he’s headed.
