Daniel Lyons had a quiet freshman season but he was able to retain his redshirt after playing just four games. He finished the year with just four total tackles, but he showed promise. He’s obviously capable of much more and should see plenty of time this season with spots opening up in the trenches.

Braden Fiske did transfer in along with Edmond Gilber and Darrell Jackson Jr. but Lyons could be a force on the interior of the defensive line moving forward.

Lyons was the top-ranked defensive lineman in Florida State’s 2022 recruiting class, listed as the No. 464 overall prospect and 61st-best defensive lineman. He stands 6-foot-4 and 285 pounds and has the potential to outplay his recruiting ranking in 2023.

It’s hard to believe he was just a three-star prospect, but he has lofty potential and I wouldn’t be shocked to see him slide into the two-deep this season with a full year in the program under his belt.
