College Football news: Bryce Young projected as No. 1 draft pick, signing day rumblings, more
In our latest college football news roundup, two former Big 12 QBs make the Super Bowl, Bryce Young is projected as the No. 1 pick, and much more.
We know now who will be playing in the Super Bowl and from a college football perspective one of the most interesting storylines are the quarterbacks.
Both of them finished their careers in the Big 12 conference. Patrick Mahomes went to Texas Tech after not getting any scholarship offers out of high school. Jalen Hurts transferred to Oklahoma after he lost his starting job at Alabama.
Mahomes was still a little overlooked in the draft process but still was a first-round pick, Hurts was a second-rounder and many wondered how his game would transfer to the NFL, even before he left college.
Well, the answer is pretty darn well and now, the two former Big 12 signal callers will play for the Super Bowl in a couple of weeks.
More college football news: Bryce Young projected to go No. 1
This is something to keep in mind as NFL teams try to mind the world of college football for the next great quarterback.
Alabama has had some success with signal callers but Mac Jones hasn’t been great. Bryce Young could be the best of them all though and of all the signal-callers who dominated college football this past season, he’s still the best in my book.
CBS sports feel that way too as Bryce Young was projected as the top pick in its mock draft released on Monday. The 2023 NFL mock draft actually has the Panthers making a trade-up with the Bears to draft Young — the Heisman Trophy winner in college football in 2021.
We’ll see what happens, but I would definitely expect Young to go No. 1 at this point.
College Football National Signing Day approaches
Get ready for another interesting week of college football recruiting. National Signing Day is set for Wednesday and a number of key recruits, including multiple five-stars, will be making their announcements including Nyckoles Harbor and tight end Duce Robinson.
There are a number of other four-star prospects that will be making decisions too. Texas and UCF started trending in the right direction with a couple, while Oregon was hoping to lock down the recruitment of Harbor on his last official visit.
Robinson, the five-star tight end has been trending to Georgia (big shock) but there are a couple of days before signing day, so keep an eye on all those recruitments.
As we know, in the world of college football recruiting, anything can happen.
