Duce Robinson delay wouldn’t be good for Georgia Football
Georgia football was looking like the leader for five-star tight end Duce Robinson but the Bulldogs might have to wait to land his commitment.
As we have said leading up to National Signing Day on Wednesday, just about anything can happen in college football recruiting.
Georgia football has been trending as the leader and the favorite for five-star tight end Duce Robinson, one of the top-ranked players left on the board in the 2023 college football recruiting class.
Robinson is an elite prospect and is 6-foot-6, 225 pounds, and the top-ranked player at his position out of Phoenix, Arizona.
Despite a strong push from USC, Alabama, as well as Oregon, and others such as Texas, Georgia football has been considered the favorite. He’s got seven crystal ball projections to land at UGA and the On3 prediction machine has the Bulldogs as a heavy favorite.
However, Georgia football fans might be a little worried after the latest report that Duce Robinson could take his decision past National Signing Day. Here’s the latest from Blair Angulo of 247 sports:
"“Coaching staffs at Georgia, USC, Texas, Alabama, and Oregon anxiously await word from the nation’s No. 1 rated tight end, but multiple sources tell 247Sports there is uncertainty about whether Robinson will actually sign on Wednesday.”"
Angulo also quoted a source directly, who said: “I think he’s completely torn and I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t sign.”
A delay wouldn’t be good for Georgia football
Robinson makes sense for Georgia football since the Bulldogs have turned out some really talented tight ends in recent years.
Yet, Lincoln Riley has proven he knows a thing or two about offenses, and the idea of catching passes from Caleb Williams next season has to be intriguing on some level.
Robinson was outstanding during his senior season and caught 84 passes for 1,614 yards and 14 touchdowns. The tight end also has the potential to be a first-round pick in baseball.
That’s why it’s not a shock to know that a bunch of heavy hitters are working to land him late in the cycle. USC has been making a major push but he’s also taken official visits to Georgia, Alabama, Texas, and USC.
All I know is that in college football recruiting, it’s usually not a good sign as the favorite when a recruit wants to delay a decision. So if Robinson does sign on Wednesday, it will be good news for every team but Georgia football.
