Dan Lanning’s first season as Oregon football coach was a resounding success. The program looked to be in better shape than it had been in years and the future seems bright.

The Ducks finished the 2022 season with a 10-3 record and Kenny Dillingham did so well with the offense and transfer quarterback Bo Nix that he earned a head coaching job with Arizona State. With a new lead on offense and Nix returning, the Ducks will try to replicate the success from last season, and then some.

If Oregon is going to compete for a Pac-12 title in 2023, these second-year players will need to step up.

It was tough to pick between Jahlil Florence and Salil Tucker for this spot, but I went with the cornerback who had more production in his first year.

Florence and Tucker were actually high school teammates as well as the top defensive back commits in Oregon’s 2022 class and they may be future starters in the secondary. They both have bright futures.

But I’m really excited about Florence after watching him play fairly well last season in limited action. He finished the year with eight total tackles, a tackle for loss, and an interception. I think he has a chance to build on this and become a star on Dan Lanning’s defense.
