Notre Dame football: Grading the Irish’s 2023 recruiting class
Defensive backs: A
The only position group on the defensive side of the ball that I more than the linebackers would have to be the defensive backs.
First, you have Christian Gray, a four-star cornerback from Saint Louis, Mo., who happens to be the highest-ranked Notre Dame recruit who’s enrolled early. He’s No. 103 in the country and No. 11 at the cornerback position. He’s the kind of defensive back who could have an immediate impact.
And then there’s Adon Shuler and Ben Minich, a duo of four-star safeties who also happens to be enrolled early. Shuler is ranked No. 338 in the class and Minich is No. 402. The two will help ease the pain of losing Brandon Joseph and Houston Griffith this offseason.
Lastly, there’s Brandyn Hillman, a four-star athlete who projects as a safety and he’s a guy who Notre Dame 247Sports writer Tom Loy believes is the most underrated recruit in the Irish’s 2023 class. He could come in and compete for a spot on the two-deep at safety this summer.
A really good class of defensive backs for the Irish.
