Notre Dame football lost its offensive coordinator earlier this week as Tommy Rees left for Alabama and here are three options for the Irish to replace him.

It’s been a busy offseason for Notre Dame football. The Irish added one of the top quarterbacks in the transfer portal recently in Sam Hartman but also just lost their offensive play-caller to Alabama.

Tommy Rees was the long-time offensive coordinator for the Irish and in addition to calling plays, he did pretty well on the recruiting trail too.

Regardless, he’s off to work under Nick Saban. That means that Marcus Freeman needs to find a replacement. Making the right hire is important on the field and off of it in terms of recruiting.

There are some good options available and here are three coaches Notre Dame football should target with its open offensive coordinator job.

3. Notre Dame TE coach Gerad Parker

This isn’t a sexy name, however, it would be a good hire. Parker has been an offensive coordinator before at West Virginia and was also the passing-game coordinator at Penn State.

Parker would bring stability as he would be able to keep the same system in place. His tight ends were also really productive last season and he’s got obvious ties to Freeman.

All those things make sense. However, Notre Dame football might be looking to make more of a proven, splash hire and if that’s the case, there are two outside options that are worth considering.
