Boise State football: Expectations for Taylen Green in 2023
Andy Avalos has to be happy with where the Boise State football program sits.
After going 7-5 in his first season with the Broncos and 5-3 in league play, the Broncos were 10-4 in 2022 and finished in first place in the division before losing in the Mountain West title game.
And he did all of this with Hank Bachmeier regressing and freshman Taylen Green taking over.
Green became the QB1 early on and played well. He had over 2,000 yards and 14 touchdowns with just six picks while completing 61 percent of his passes and he led the Broncos to the Mountain West Championship, falling just short.
Now that Bachmeier has moved on to Louisiana Tech, it’s Green’s team officially. There will be no quarterback battle this offseason.
So what can we expect from Green in 2023?
Boise State football should be playing for a title again in 2023
There’s a decent chance that Boise State is pushing for a New Year’s Six bowl in 2023 as the Group of Five’s top team.
With Green gaining confidence in this system and now with a full year of starting experience under his belt, it’s fair to expect a solid step in the right direction. He passed for 2,000 yards and 14 touchdowns as a freshman and I think he’s capable of 3,000 yards and 20 scores in 2023 while leading Boise State back to the Mountain West title game.
Boise State is talented enough to make it back to the title game and I’m positive that a more veteran Green is going to be one of the best quarterbacks in the Group of Five.
I think Green is going to be turning a lot of heads next season and could be one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the country heading into 2023.
