Washington football: Way-too-early game-by-game predictions for 2023
Washington fans, avert your eyes. This isn’t going to be a fun one to read.
The Huskies will get a date with Oregon State in the second-to-last week of the year with a playoff berth still very much in play. All Washington has to do is beat the Beavers in Corvallis and it’ll set itself up for a potential 11-1 regular season, Pac-12 title, and playoff berth.
But we all saw what the Beavers did to Oregon with all of that on the line last season, shocking the Ducks in Corvallis and I think we’ll see the same spoiler role being played here.
Oregon State is no pushover regardless, but this game is going to leave a sour taste in every Washington fan’s mouth.
Prediction: Loss (9-2, 6-2)
Washington State may be a rivalry game, but I don’t even think this one will be close outside of it being 0-0 to start. The Huskies will be playing angrily after a loss in Corvallis eliminated them from the playoff, but a Pac-12 title berth will still be in play and the Cougars will be treated like a punching bag for 60 minutes.
The Apple Cup is usually competitive, but not this year.
Washington wins big and Michael Penix finishes the season with over 4,000 passing yards again and earns an invite to New York for the Heisman ceremony.
Prediction: Win (10-2, 7-2)
