There are some high-profile QB competitions in college football this season and here is a look at three you need to keep an eye on.

There are a lot of unknowns going into the 2023 college football season at the quarterback position. Ohio State, Alabama, and Georgia are all going to have new starters. So is the reigning national runner-up TCU.

Caleb Williams is back at USC and J.J. McCarthy is back at Michigan. Sam Hartman transferred to Notre Dame and others decided to return such as Bo Nix who is back at Oregon.

Yet, there are going to be some high-profile college football quarterback competitions and it’s something to keep an eye on this spring. We know the big names but there are some other important QB battles worth watching and here are predictions for UCLA football, Nebraska and Tennessee.

3. UCLA football: Dante Moore vs Collin Schlee

Dorian Thompson-Robinson has moved on and Chip Kelly is looking for a new starting quarterback and thankfully, UCLA football has a couple of really good options.

Schlee completed 59 percent of his passes last season for Kent State and threw 13 touchdown passes plus 2,109 yards. Schlee also ran for nearly 500 yards last season which makes him a great fit for what Kelly wants to do.

Dante Moore was a huge recruiting win for UCLA football late in the cycle as the Bruins flipped him from fellow Pac-12 rival Oregon. Moore starred in the All-American Bowl and in terms of being a pure passer, he’s as good as any freshman in the country and that includes Arch Manning.

It will be fascinating to see these two duke it out during the spring for UCLA football. With Schlee’s ability to run, it’s likely both see time in 2023. Eventually, though, Moore will win out.

However, I could see Schlee starting the first few games. But Moore is going to have a legit chance and one that is helped since he enrolled early.
