The 2022 season was a dream for TCU football fans. One year after losing Gary Patterson and going 5-7, the Horned Frogs made it to the Big 12 title game and the College Football Playoff, beating Michigan in the national semifinal to earn a championship game berth.

We won’t talk about what happened in the national title game against Georgia, but it showed TCU that it still has a long way to go if it wants to legitimately win it all.

Max Duggan is gone and the Horned Frogs will be looking for some key replacements next season, but TCU should be a contender in the Big 12 again.

Will the Horned Frogs make it back to the conference title game in 2023?

We’re going to see a resurgent Colorado team in 2023 with Deion Sanders at the helm, but will it be enough to go on the road and pick up a win over the reigning national runner-up? I don’t think so.

Colorado will be improved, for sure, but I don’t think the squad of transfers and younger players are ready to win on the road against a team like TCU hungry to put the taste of that national title loss out of its mouth.

Prediction: Win (1-0)

Nicholls isn’t going to present much of a test for TCU in the second week of the season as this is just a pay game. But this is important because Chandler Morris, or whoever wins the starting quarterback job, needs to gain some confidence and this is the perfect game to do just that.

Prediction: Win (2-0)
