Looking ahead to the 2023 UCLA football season here are three breakout candidates for the Bruins.

The UCLA football team has been steadily on the rise under Chip Kelly and the Bruins took a definite step forward in 2022 by winning nine games.

There were some impressive wins in the process and Kelly showed he still knows a thing or two about building an explosive offense. Running back Zach Charbonnet is off to the NFL and so is former starting quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Now, the Bruins have one of the most interesting quarterback battles in the country with five-star freshman Dante Moore set to aim for the starting job. UCLA football has talent and as the Bruins look to reach that next level, which would be 10 wins and New Year Six Bowl games, here are three breakout candidates for the Bruins in 2023.

QB Dante Moore

Moore is going to have competition for the starting job but I believe that the five-star freshman is going to start game one. That’s what he did in his high school career and if you watched him in the All-American Bowl, you’ll have zero reason to doubt his ability.

UCLA football fans should be excited because I don’t think there’s a huge difference between Arch Manning and Dante Moore. Moore isn’t a dual-threat quarterback. He’s a pocket passer and just an Ok athlete, but his elite arm more than makes up for it.

With the way Kelly has always liked running the ball, it’s going to be a great match and Moore is going to shine in his first season in LA. It won’t be long before the Dante Moore for Heisman talk is starting up.
