55. Scouting Report. player. WR. Ohio State. Jaxon Smith-Njigba. 17. Pick Analysis

What an interesting story Jaxon Smith-Njigba is. He had one of the greatest single-game performances in college football history in the Rose Bowl with Ohio State and finished his sophomore year with an astounding 1,609 receiving yards and nine touchdowns on 95 receptions.

Suffice it to say, he was a freak.

Heading into the 2022 season, he was the overwhelming favorite to win the Biletnikoff Award and people were talking Heisman.

But he played in just three games before suffering an injury and he decided to sit out the rest of the season in order to avoid further injuries which could affect his draft stock. Sure, his stock was slightly affected by sitting out as he’s now a mid-first option, but he is an elite weapon and if he can stay healthy, the Steelers will get a steal here at No. 17.

They took their franchise quarterback in Kenny Pickett last year, they have a solid weapon in George Pickens, and they have their running back in Najee Harris. This would be a good young core of offensive players in Pittsburgh.
