ACC: Florida State

Looking back at the 2022 college football season, the one conference that didn’t get much respect was the ACC.

Clemson was the league’s only true College Football Playoff contender but the dream died after a loss to Notre Dame on the road and another at home against South Carolina. Clemson did win the ACC title game but was beaten soundly by Tennessee with its backup QB in the Orange Bowl.

The Tigers know they need to be better in 2023, at least on offense, and hired Garrett Riley away from TCU to address an offense that has struggled since Trevor Lawrence left. Former five-star QB Cade Klubnik seems ready to take the offense to the next level.

Yet, Florida State football won 10 games and finished ranked in the top 10. Jared Verse decided to come back instead of being a first-round pick and so did quarterback Jordan Travis, who is a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate.

Mike Norvell has proven everyone wrong and after one of the best transfer portal hauls, Florida State football is poised to win the ACC for the first time since 2016.
