Notre Dame football QB commit CJ Carr is visiting Texas A&M, plus commitments for Clemson and Penn State in our college football recruiting roundup.

When it comes to the 2024 college football recruiting class and Notre Dame football, the gem of the class is prized quarterback CJ Carr.

Carr, as Notre Dame football fans, will remember, committed to the Irish last summer. He’s the grandson of former Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr and it was seen as a huge recruiting victory for Notre Dame football coach Marcus Freeman.

At the time, Carr was rated as a five-star prospect. Right now, he’s ranked No. 42 overall in the 2024 college football recruiting class according to the 247 sports composite rankings.

Carr is the No. 5 overall quarterback and the key piece for the Irish. But with Tommy Rees, formerly his primary recruiter leaving for Alabama, you had to wonder if it would open the door just a little for other programs to try for a flip.

Well, it looks like Texas A&M might have a shot. On3.com is reporting that Carr is going to visit Texas A&M football this spring. He’s going to be there with his 7-on-7 team and did the same thing with Washington in January.

Carr has said he’s solid with Notre Dame football, despite the loss of Rees and I tend to believe him. So as far as Irish fans are concerned, I wouldn’t be too worried about this one.

Now, if the Aggies are able to connect and build more of a relationship with Carr and then possibly got him on an official visit, then I’d worry about a flip. For now, I think Notre Dame football is safe in terms of where it stands with CJ Carr.

Clemson, Penn State lands four-star commitments

The first blue-chip commitment in the 2024 college football recruiting class in the month of March goes to the Clemson Tigers, who added four-star running back David Eziomume to their 2024 haul.

Eziomume is out of Georgia and is the No. 336 overall prospect in the 2024 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings. He’s 6-foot-1, 205 pounds, and is ranked No. 27 among running backs. He’s the fifth four-star commitment for Clemson so far in the 2024 college football recruiting class and right now, the Tigers currently have the No. 10 team ranking.

Just before the month of February came to a close, Penn State also added a four-star prospect as Kari Jackson, a four-star linebacker and the ninth-ranked player in the state of Michigan, pledged to the Nittany Lions in 2024.

Jackson is 6-foot-2, 215 pounds, and out of West Bloomfield, Michigan. He is ranked No. 399 overall in 2024 according to the 247 sports composite rankings and is another addition from the state of Michigan, where the Nittany Lions have recruited hard in recent cycles.

Jackson is the third pledge for Penn State in 2024. All three commits are ranked as four stars as Penn State is No. 21 in the team rankings.
